Family visit in Alcover

The village of Alcover belongs to Alt Camp region and is located at the foot of the Prades Mountains. This region is well known for being the cradle of the calçot, a traditional dish. With a population of 5,000 inhabitants, its old town offers a route to discover its important historical and architectural heritage:
This family visit allows us to get to know Alcover in a fun way:
This population is also well known for the banditry of the 16th and 17th centuries. Two fearsome sides frightened the neighbours of Alcover and even other towns.
The visit begins with a tour in the old town, following the clues of the Alcoveran bandit Pere Voltor, where we try to find the hidden treasure in some place of the town, while learning about its history and monuments. While we search, we will also visit the Alcover Municipal Museum, formed by the stately Casa Batistó and the surprising exhibition about the fossils left by the tropical sea that once existed in this region. At the end of our visit, we will make a reproduction of the so-called “stone fish”: The fossil of the fish alcoveria brevis.
